While retaining our own identities we are working together on PBC in order to realise the benefits of a greater population size while retaining the "family doctor" feel of the service. Our total registered population is 102,000. Our purpose is to offer patients and users a greater choice from a wider selection of convenient, innovative and responsive services. We aim to bring high-quality, cost-effective services closer to patients.
What is Practice Based Commissioning?
Practice based commissioning is the Government's proposal set out in April 2005 where all practices or groups of practices will have the right to receive a budget from the primary care trust to purchase health care for their registered patients. They will be able to change how and where care is provided in order to benefit patients.
Patient Participation
PBC is a mechanism that lets us make changes to improve patient care. If you are a patient at one of the West PBC GP practices listed above and have any constructive ideas that will improve the patient experience, we are always very interested in listening to and subsequently discussing your comments. You can email your thoughts to West PBC at: patients@westpbc.org.uk
